My name is Teri Berkengoff and I’m an Independent Celebrant, specialising in funerals.

After 25 years as a Communications Manager in the corporate world I was longing for a change. I wanted to ‘do something completely different’ without having any idea what that would be - all I knew was that I wanted to work with people, write and speak publicly.

Then my Dad died. I found the whole funeral process to be very therapeutic; from the moment I walked into the local Funeral Director’s without a clue as to what was going on, to organising the funeral, picking the songs and speaking and singing at his service.

"And so, my journey to becoming a Funeral Celebrant began…and it became a ‘calling’. Although I didn’t know it at the time, the skills I gained in my previous career have proved to be invaluable in my work as a Funeral Celebrant.

In my spare time I make memory quilts. Memory quilts can be extremely comforting as they help us remain close to our loved ones, because they incorporate their personal items such as dresses, shirts and jeans as well as pillowcases, duvet covers and curtains, making it feel like they haven’t gone forever as there will always be a part of them in the quilt"

People say I’m warm and friendly and easy to talk to, so I'll put you at your ease no matter how you're feeling
